Sales & Trading Summer Analyst

June - August 2019 • New York City, NY

What I liked

Loved the culture and atmosphere at Credit Suisse. The nature of the program is very communicative, it's networking your way into a position in which you it with the team for 10 weeks. A ton of opportunity is given to see at least 3 different areas of the Global Markets sector of the bank. The people were not cut-throat and wanted to see each other end up in the best spot for themselves and the bank.

What I wish was different

I wishI had seen more desks instead of the two I rotated through and spent more time looking at potential opportunities for rotations for Summer 2020.

Advice

You will be tired because it involves having a game face on and networking from 7 am - 7 pm. It gets tiring but use your fellow interns to keep you going and vice versa. It's all about teamwork.

What I liked

The work was very interesting, my colleagues were SUPER helpful to the analysts and I thoroughly enjoyed my experience.

What I wish was different

I had very long hours and the lifestyle catches up with you over 9 weeks - definitely over 2 years.

Advice

That if you're interested in IB, try doing an internship because unless you try it you'll never really know.

Equity Research Summer Intern

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I loved the opportunity to work closely with those in the investment industry and prepare for a future in such an industry. I gained alot of hands on experience and had the opportunity to speak frankly with people that I would consider role models in the field.

What I wish was different

I wish the work hours could have been communicated a little clearer. The biggest problem with my daily routine was that I never really knew when my day would end. Would it be 8 PM or 11 PM?

Advice

Network alot and don't be afraid to intern in a position that is not investment banking. There are so many positions out there and don't let yourself be constrained by the path that so many people take. Sometimes what someone else did may not be the best thing for you, just because they did it.

Human Resources and Leadership Development

June - August 2017 • New York City, NY

What I liked

I enjoyed having the experience of working in a large, international company. For me, the best aspects were event planning. The company makes an effort for you to interact and have meetings with people from many different areas of the company which was interesting to learn about.

What I wish was different

I wish my role had more creative aspects to it.

Advice

Sometimes you have to work later nights for events, but it can be a lot of fun if HR in a banking industry is something you're interested in.

Even if you're not crazy about the work you're doing, use it as a learning experience to understand other aspects of the business.

Sales & Trading Summer Analyst

June - August 2018 • New York City, NY

What I liked

The people, the culture of the bank, the work I was doing

What I wish was different

I wish there had been more structure in the internship - I basically had to figure everything out on my own, which required me making a lot of mistakes in the process

Advice

Never be scared to ask for help! The worst thing you could possibly do is try to figure everything out for yourself and completely screw up in the process. There's obviously a balance between asking for too much help, but you shouldn't try and figure everything out on your own either - especially if you have no idea what you're doing.
